In the beginning, in the sixties, not many of them jumped into the water on their makeshift board. Word of mouth quickly spread the reputation of Hossegorian spots in the world of surfers. They then arrive from the United States, Australia and South Africa to stop off on the Landes coast to try “the Hossegor wave”.

The only French stopovers on the professional circuit, the Quiksilver Pro France (male category) and the Roxy Pro France (female category) are held simultaneously in the first days of October between the municipalities of Seignosse, Hossegor and Capbreton in New Aquitaine.
