Sport as much as lifestyle, surfing is comfortably installed on the Hossegorian waves thanks to waves recognized worldwide, the ski resort has become the European capital of surfing.
In the beginning, in the sixties, not many of them jumped into the water on their makeshift board. Word of mouth quickly spread the reputation of Hossegorian spots in the world of surfers. They then arrive from the United States, Australia and South Africa to stop off on the Landes coast to try “the Hossegor wave”.
The enthusiasm and experience of these enthusiasts largely contribute to the development of a new generation totally invested in the discipline.
Few regions can claim so many favorable conditions, which is why Hossegor, a welcoming land for surfers, has become the European capital of surfing.
The only French stopovers on the professional circuit, the Quiksilver Pro France (male category) and the Roxy Pro France (female category) are held simultaneously in the first days of October between the municipalities of Seignosse, Hossegor and Capbreton in New Aquitaine.
Renowned for its spectacular surfing conditions, the Landes stopover has established itself over time as one of the most prestigious of the professional surfing world championships. Dependent on the famous sandbanks which make the beauty and complexity of its waves, it is the only itinerant stage of the circuit
